FIFPro XI: Maltese National team vote

The Malta National team players have joined their colleagues around the world and casted their votes for the FIFA FIFPro XI 2012. It must have been a strange feeling for the Maltese players voting for world class players such as Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo and Petr Cech since they have played against these stars last September and October respectively. Malta lost both games but the Maltese players played two great games and for long stretches during both games played at par to both Italy and Czech Republic.

Roderick Briffa, the Malta and Valletta FC midfielder scored a great goal against the goalkeeper he considers to be the best in the world, Petr Cech.

Also Gareth Sciberras, the Malta and Birkirkara FC said that he is proud to form part of this big family of football players from different countries and that being chosen in the FIFA FIFPro XI is a very prestigious achievement for a player since it's the choice of peers.

Players, both Maltese and foreigners playing with local clubs in Premier Division and 1st Division were asked to join players from all over the world and vote for the best 11 players for 2012. This is the second time that players participating in the local leagues had the opportunity to vote for the FIFA FIFPro XI. All participating players enjoyed this special occasion to vote for the best players around. MFPA officials have been visiting clubs to distribute and collect the players' voted.
